How long will it take to replace my roof?
On average, one to two days for residential roofs; however, this is dependant upon the structure, the size of the roof, steep slopes and gables as these can require more time to complete. Weather is another factor to take into account. Wind, snow and rain can slow the process considerably.

How can I prepare for my new roof?
Here are a few suggestions:
- If you will need access to your vehicle during the day, you may want to park on the street (the night before) to escape the risk of being “blocked” in by our roofing crews.
- Please let your neighbors know about your project and feel free to invite them to observe our crews’ work.
- It is not uncommon for debris to fall into flower beds as well as other shrubs and bushes. Our installers will use tarps to cover these areas and make every effort to avoid unnecessary damage. Please remove outdoor hanging items such as: plants, wind chimes, pictures, etc. If you have delicate plants, please point these out so necessary precautions can be made.
- As with any exterior home project, you can expect to have noise inside the house and out. If you have pets that are sensitive to loud sounds, you may want to leave them with a friend during the installation process. Also, we recommend you remove any large mirrors or expensive pictures/frames from the wall, as they may be at risk from falling and being damaged due to the vibrations of the rooftop work.
*Please Note: It is our intention to leave your property as clean and safe as possible. Your Vanguard Roofing representative will do a final inspection of the property and will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding your new roof.

Can my insurance company cancel my homeowner's policy if I file a claim?
If you have hail or wind damage, you shouldn’t be afraid to file a claim. Your insurer cannot cancel your policy due to storm damage and cannot raise your rates on the basis of your individual storm damage claim. Be aware, however, that insurance rates in your area can fluctuate whether or not you file a claim.

What is hail and how does it affect my home?
According to NOAA, National Severe Storms Laboratory, “Hail is precipitation that is formed when updrafts in thunderstorms carry raindrops upward into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere and freezes into ice. Hailstones grow by colliding with supercooled water drops. The stronger the updraft, the larger the hailstone can grow.” Large hail and strong winds can cause damage to a home’s roofing, siding, gutters, etc.

How can hail damage my roof?
Hail damage to asphalt shingles can cause granule loss, puncturing, soft spots or bruising that’s difficult for non-professionals to identify. In some cases, the damage from hail is strong enough to rupture the reinforcing mat, which exposes the underlying fibers (bitumen). Once these fibers are exposed, the shingle’s ability to shed water deteriorates, reducing the life-expectancy of the roof and allowing water to get into the house.
